monday [week four]. i still hate mondays.

I haven't had time to update in a while. Today is Monday, and we're spending lab time right now working on our project. I'm starting to worry about the project; we probably won't be able to get enough of it finished in time and I am not being helpful. x_x
Um... the last two days of last week was pretty entertaining. The battlebot thing was fun, and the movie and the mall was a nice change from lectures even if the movie is a little ridiculous.
I don't really have anything else to say, so that's that.

wednesday.

Yay I learned how to use an abacus!

That's all I wanted to say. XD

THIRD WEEK TUESDAY

We saw some pretty cool stuff today. That presentation we got this afternoon had some really neat things: the device that can drag pictures from the computer into the real world table and drag things back in and drag blocks of text in and out... the touch screen sensor thing... the digital pen... those were a lot of fun to look at and play with. Wheeee. XD

monday. i hate mondays.

I'm feeling kinda sick right now. Ugh. Must make a mental note not to eat popcorn shrimp in the future.

Anyhow. I spent most of today with my head in the clouds: lack of sleep (and maybe skipping breakfast) + stomach sickness = bleh. My eyes keep on itching and tearing these days. I'm not sure what I'm allergic TO in this building, but it has to be something. Eeeep.

The perceptron learning simulation thing got me confused for a while, but I think I understand most of it. The perceptron does the best fit line pretty slowly though. x_x. Not very efficient.

Uh. I guess we have to go now. Blah. Blahblahblah. ASDF.

FRIDAY! XDXDXDXD!

I get to go home today! I'm kinda happy. We got our final project assignments today, and we decided to do the handwriting one, but I have no idea how to go about doing it even though I have an idea of what we have to do. How do I put that idea into code? x_x

AFTERNOON

Yay we programmed! Christine's lectures are pretty easy to understand, so it wasn't so difficult to add strings to the code that has already been originated. I'd say that this is a pretty successful second try in programming. And... uh... yah.

2ND WEDNESDAY

It's Wednesday already. I have no sense of time and dates right now. x_x

There was a lecture on computer games this morning; it wasn't highly technical, but it wasn't what I really expected either. I think the hardcore computer gamers really liked this lecture, but as for me, I'm pretty much indifferent, I guess. Knowing that the class exists and having a brief look on what students do in that class helps though; the class sounds pretty interesting.

Yesterday... we learned about the scientific method. Blah.

SECOND WEEK MONDAY.

Today I had a lesson on search engines, indexing methods, human perception, and programming. The programming lesson was relatively simple, so even I could follow along, which was great. XD The rules and theories to human perception are quite new to me, so it was nice to learn that about the way our own eyes and brain works. Um... we found out how the google search engine works. *shrug* And... yah.

FRIDAY! TGIF!

We had many discussions in lecture today, mostly about human nature. I thought the Chinese Room argument this morning and all its objections were actually quite interesting, and the discussions that we had in the afternoon about humans being biological machines were... well, mind-stimulating. There is no way that humans can be machines, and even if we can't find anything that can differentiate us from machines, we would still have to hold the belief that we are NOT machines, because it would feel... wrong to say otherwise, and I get a feeling that if we admit that we are all machines, everything would just go down the drain and we would not be humans any more. (I'm not sure how this works.) Have to go in five minutes, so... whatever. The end.

DAY 04(?)

The past few days was pretty much this foggy daze for me; most of the time, I have no idea what's going on. The programming talk, which is what I really wanted to learn before, was quite confusing to me, because I only have the most basic knowledge about computers and it kind of assumes that I already have knowledge of various topics that concerned the lecture. I did find the artificial intelligence lecture Wednesday afternoon quite interesting; even if it WAS just another lecture, but I found the topic interesting when Christine was explaining it and I actually understood everything, which was a nice bonus. I didn't quite know that there were so many different fields to artificial intelligence before, and that making a computer do something as simple as walk could take so much intelligence, and that recognizing tables and everything else can be so hard. I got a lot of the basics of the A.I. field out of that lecture, which was really nice. This morning, we had a lecture on the five steps to the development of the brain in the embryo. It was actually pretty fascinating at first, but towards the end, it got really technical and became difficult to understand. I managed to get the idea of the technical stuff, so it wasn't that bad. In the afternoon, we had a lecture on the newest breakthroughs on the study of human genome (which was brought about by computer science, ha); the ideas of the lecture I understand, but I definitely will not study this field in the future: biology has never been my strong subject. -.-
And so. That's that.

ASDFASDFASDF!

First post. Let's write lots of stuff to take up lots of space so the right side doesn't look so blank. Everything here will be changed when I feel like going through the CSS codes. So... a write-up of daily progress, eh?
It feels like most of the day is occupied by walking and walking and more walking. It's really quite tiring, especially when walking upstairs and walking uphill. I do not understand how people manage to survive the walk on flip-flops and not tennis shoes. These two days have been pretty uneventful; we've mostly done stuff on introduction and setup, which really isn't exactly difficult.
That's really all I have to say on the subject. Currently trying to make really really really simple programs; but the java one is not coming up. -.-
